I did not start painting until my late 50's.  I was not that person who painted from an early age.  I never considered myself artistic.   I have a close friend who has been an artist her entire life. She was one of those kids who was drawing and doodling all the time.   I would watch her paint and marvel at the colors she would mix, the tools she would use and her process from start to finish.  I wanted that.  So I started painting with Acrylics and I painted and painted.  The more I painted the more I wanted to know more.  I took classes, went to lectures, to open houses and exhibits where I could talk to other artists. I thank all of those artists who helped me along the way.  I also know my life has helped get me to this place.

My artwork is a reflection of the landscape around me.  Living in Oregon you will see the influence of our mountains, rivers and ocean.  From the time I was little I was always outside and it is through those memories that help me convey how I was feeling.  Did the air smell hot or did I feel the cold in my breath?  These sensors and feelings help guide me to my finished piece. My wish is that people that view my work will feel their sense of place wherever it is.
